I’m running for Council District 3 to represent the windward side of Oahu and seek to bring new solutions to unresolved problems.
The future of Waimanalo, Kailua, Kaneohe, Heeia and Ahuimanu is not controlled by politicians but the citizens of our windward community.
Putting the Windward Side First means giving local communities the resources and backing needed to help them deal with issues that affect them.
During my time serving on the Kailua Neighborhood Board it became clear that many community issues were going unresolved because neither the City of State government were willing or authorized to deal with these local concerns.
And, local citizens are not given the resources and authority to address these problems themselves.
Some issues (such as infrastructure) require complex financing and coordination but others problems have accessible solutions and can often be worked out in the best interest of all involved.
There are changes coming to our state and nation as we enter a new era in the post-pandemic world.
Greater independence, productivity with increased resilience and a more robust economy will be required at home and across the nation.
We cannot let our land, talent and possibilities be stifled when we have the power to activate these resources for our own and our neighbors benefit.
I’ll be working to outline some ideas and potential agendas during this campaign and will be actively seeking your insight into what issues matters to you.
Making sure local people have the tools both political and economic to deal with issues that impact their community is the best thing for all of Oahu.
